Let’s have more fun, get healthy, and build more community within and between neighborhoods! A city-wide sports league for kids, adults, and intergenerational teams for soccer, basketball, chess will help Chicagoans feel more connected to their neighborhood and their city. Every neighborhood gets resources (space to practice, basic equipment, and someone that can coordinate it- perhaps a volunteer from Chicago Service Corps!) and the season culminates with city-wide tournaments. To build camaraderie across neighborhoods, matches and games could include mixing teams and sportsmanship traditions that prioritize community over competition.
